        Dan Reynolds, their leader and lead singer initially did not want to become a musician, because Wayne Sermon, his bandmate told him to "Not do music if you got other options". He soon realized that he could not do anything else aside from music and decided to pursue a professional music career. Reynolds met and recruited Andrew Tolman, Ben Mckee, Daniel Platzman, Wayne Sermon and Dave Lemke to form Imagine Dragons.

        This song gave a strong impact to me. It means that we, as humans, have a tendency to have unrealistic expectations of ourselves. We all have "inner demons." We are all dealing with issues. We all have battles with ourselves from time to time. It says in the song "I wanna hide the truth, I wanna shelter you, but with the beast inside, there's no where we can hide" which means he wants to hide the dark and cruel world from the one he loves. We are all flawed in some way. It's enough that we're all human. The song seems depressing, yet the message is quite positive; embrace your flaws and imperfections since they are what make us who we are. We want to keep others from seeing our shortcomings and it's alright, but we need to be aware that we all have dark sides.
